Bad Archaeologists often have a slightly paranoid mindset: academics are out to get them, to suppress their work, even (on occasion) to cause them actual harm. Perhaps this is why some are drawn to views that history is dominated by power-crazed secret (or not-so-secret) societies, that there are “invisible masters” who are the true rulers of the world, or that we are merely the playthings (or slaves) of the gods (or extraterrestrials).
